Spend a short break in Norway exploring the cities of Bergen and Oslo – and travel between the two on one of the most fascinating and beautiful rail journeys in Europe! The Bergen Railway takes you over the mountain plateau of Hardangervidda National Park, connecting with the Flåm Railway, the short but steep ride that brings you into the very heart of the fjord landscape.
The trip can be done both ways, so you can decide if you would like to start the trip in the world heritage city of Bergen or Oslo, the vibrant capital of Norway. Both cities have good international flight connections.

Oslo
Spend a full day in Oslo and experience the beauty of the capital with the Oslo Pass, providing you free travel on all public transport, free admission to museums and sights, free parking in all Oslo municipal car parks, discounts on car hire, ice skate hire, Tusenfryd Amusement Park etc. A 24 hours pass is included in the price. Oslo Airport has direct connections all over Europe, and is also the hub for domestic flights in Norway. You can either start or end you trip in Oslo, and – if you like – spend a night at one of our Fjord Pass® hotels.
Bergen
The city of Bergen – known as the gateway to the fjords – is a must-see while in Norway. With the Bergen Card included in the package, you can enjoy free bus travel within the city limits, free admittance to most museums and attractions and discounts on a variety of cultural and sightseeing attractions, restaurants and parking. Stay overnight at one of our Fjord Pass® hotels. The airport in Bergen has direct flights to many European Cities, as well as frequent ferry connections with the UK. You can start or end you trip in Bergen – you choose!
DESTINATIONS ALONG THE WAY
Gol
Gol focuses on the family. You may enjoy a wide range of activities such as the Medieval Park, HallingGlass (glassblowing workshop), Tropicana Badeland (water park) and Hallingstampen (water sports), a 9-hole golf course or speed and excitement at the motor sports centre. Also, the Gol mountains offer varied possibilities for outdoor recreation.
Geilo
Geilo is a good starting point for walks in the forests and mountains. The landmark, the Hallingskarvet mountain range, offers wonderful hiking, and the Hardangervidda mountain plateau is not far away. At Geilo you can start out on various excursions by foot or bicycle. You may cycle mountain trails and visit mountain farms. You can fish or enjoy a mountain horseback ride. You may participate in motor sports, rafting, rock-climbing and rappelling or experience history and culture at Geilojordet, Fekjo Cultural and Heritage Park.
The fjords
After a stay in the mountains it is time to head for the fjords. Take the Bergen Railway to Myrdal. Change train and take the Flåm Railway to Flåm through magnificent mountain scenery down to the fjord. Enjoy a fjord cruise on the Aurlandsfjord and the narrow Nærøyfjord, listed on UNESCO’s World Heritage List, and take the coach to Voss. Stay overnight in Voss or take the train further on to Bergen.
Voss
If you prefer an adventures holiday, Voss is the place for you. Voss offers rafting, kayak trips, mountain horseback riding, sports angling, parasailing, skydiving, paragliding, sightseeing by seaplane or helicopter, golf and much more, as well as being a great area for mountain hikes or cycling.
