Q1: What does "R" in the itineraries mean?
A1: It means “seat reservation recommended”.
Q2: Do I have to make any seat reservations myself?
A2: Seat reservations are made by Fjord Tours on all trains marked with "R" in the itineraries. The seat number will be confirmed on your ticket.
There are no seat reservations on the Flåm Railway and local trains on the Bergen Railway, nor do the buses and boats have seats that can be reserved.
Bookings including train between Oslo and Myrdal have to be made on an exact date as the seat reservations can not be changed when the tickets have been paid.
Q3: How many tickets do I need?
A3: All tours have one main ticket.
Where seat reservation is recommended (marked "R"), separate tickets will be issued to indicate where you are seated.
The Hurtigruten & Norway in a nutshell has a separate ticket for the coastal voyage.
Q4: Is there any way that we can send our luggage separately?
A4: A company called Porter service handles luggage service.
Ph. +47 906 10 009, e-mail: porter@porterservice.no. Web: www.porterservice.no
Q5: How will I receive my tickets?
A5: The safest way of retrieving your tickets is to pick them up at any NSB ticket office in Norway. The ticket offices are located at the railway stations. We recommend that travelers meet at the station at least a half an hour before departure. The tickets can be picked up from the moment you receive your confirmation by e-mail. Tickets can also be sent to your address.
Q6: Which documents will I need when picking up the tickets?
A6: You will need to bring a print of the e-mail confirmation to retrieve the tickets.
Q7: Is it possible to stop along the route?
A7: Yes. You can make as many overnight stops as you like along the route. Hotels can be booked in the same process as the tour booking, or separately at www.fjordpass.no.
Q8: Are there any student or senior citizen discounts?
A8: No.
Q9: Are the tours guided?
A9: No. You travel along the route yourselves. The connections are always within close proximity of each other for easy transfer. Stops are always announced over the speakers.
Q10: Will I get a discount on the tour using my Fjord Pass®?
A10: The Fjord Pass® only entitles you to a discount on our hotels. Please visit www.fjordpass.no for more information.
Q11: Where can I pick up the Bergen Card and the Oslo Pass?
A11: The Bergen Card can be picked up at The Touristinformation in Bergen, and The Oslo Pass can be picked up at The Touristinformation in Oslo.
We do not send the cards to your home address, and the cards cannot be picked up at the railway stations along with other tickets.
Q12: Does “Highlights of Norway” require an overnight stay?
A12: Yes, the tour requires that you have at least one overnight stay in either Gol, Geilo or Voss. You can find more information about the tour here.
